Word of the day[hariri]

Hi, Synoman Barris. OK, it looks like I managed to get "Kigezo:NLS" working. Words of the Day should be created on pages in the format "Wiktionary:Neno la siku/[year]/[month spelled out in full] [day]", for example, "Wiktionary:Neno la siku/2020/Oktoba 4" and "Wiktionary:Neno la siku/2020/Oktoba 5" (go ahead and edit these). See "Mwanzo/sandbox" for a draft of how the Main Page will look.

What you can do next is the following:

  1. Set a number of Words of the Day for the rest of October.
  2. Ask an administrator to update the Main Page by copying "Mwanzo/sandbox" over to "Mwanzo".
  3. Once you have created the Words of the Day, create archive pages such as "Wiktionary:Neno la siku/Jalada/2020/Oktoba" (and link these archives pages to "Wiktionary:Neno la siku).
  4. You can also create permanent fallback pages in the format "Wiktionary:Neno la siku/[month spelled out in full] [day]" (in other words, leave out the year). One should be created for every day of the year, including February 29. Once these fallbacks have been created, if a Word of the Day has not been set for a particular day, the word set as a fallback will be displayed instead.

We may come across other things that need to be done, but with the above you should be able to start a Word of the Day project.

You may also want to do the following housekeeping:

  1. If you wish, translate the documentation pages of "Kigezo:hariri", "Kigezo:NLS", "Kigezo:NLS/angalia", "Kigezo:NLS/siku iliyotangulia au inayofuata", "Kigezo:NLS-navarchive-month" and "Kigezo:num" into Swahili. (In particular, for "Kigezo:NLS", you may want to work out abbreviations for the parts of speech.)
  2. I wasn't sure what were suitable categories to put these templates which I created into: "Kigezo:hariri", "Kigezo:NLS-navarchive-month", "Kigezo:num". Please categorize them.

SGconlaw Thank you so much. I will see to it that i try to translate the documentation. I am actually undergoing a RFA which is to end in four days time at Wiktionary:Wakabidhi and i believe i’ll be able to moove the page myself. Hope you learnt some Swahili.
