[hariri]Hey I need your help I am troubled finding a way to make more days for words the template that you created I wont be there all the time to write words each and every day please help.thanks. AK alvin kipchumba (User talk:Alvin kipchumba) 14:40, 2 Novemba 2020 (UTC)
- Hi, Alvin, I'm not sure what you mean. Could you explain? I'm afraid I don't speak Swahili so I can't really help to set Words of the Day. If you don't have time to set an NLS every day, perhaps just do one every week (for example, every Sunday). — SGconlaw (majadiliano) 14:45, 2 Novemba 2020 (UTC)
On the english wiktionary they have made a long list of words so that for the next 30 days there are words seperate for each day I wanted the same here so I can spend a whole day like Sunday and just write AK alvin kipchumba (User talk:Alvin kipchumba) 14:49, 2 Novemba 2020 (UTC)
- Yes, I'm the editor who actually does that, ha ha. So what advice are you asking me for? — SGconlaw (majadiliano) 15:17, 2 Novemba 2020 (UTC)
In here it is only limited to two days could you make it even more AK alvin kipchumba (User talk:Alvin kipchumba) 08:26, 3 Novemba 2020 (UTC)
- Alvin: Unfortunately I can't help you to set the NLSes because I don't speak Swahili, and I also don't have the time to do so. Maybe you can get some other editors here at the Swahili Wiktionary to help you set NLSes. However, if there is something technical I can help with, like creating or explaining how the templates work, or creating some pages for you, let me know. (Synoman Barris, perhaps you can provide some advice too?) — SGconlaw (majadiliano) 09:39, 3 Novemba 2020 (UTC)
No i am sorry for that i meant the technical not the words. I wanted to know how if I can make the template make more room for more words and if it can't be then we could make it to be a word of the week AK alvin kipchumba (User talk:Alvin kipchumba) 10:24, 3 Novemba 2020 (UTC)
- Alvin: OK, here are my suggestions:
- Please look at "Wiktionary:Neno la siku#Faharisi ya mpangilio". I have created links to NLS archive pages for all the months of the year. (You can add archive pages for 2022, 2023, etc. by copying and pasting the text.)
- The archive pages for October and November have already been created. To create a new page for a month, go to a page that has already been created (like "Wiktionary:Neno la siku/Jalada/2020/Novemba"), copy it, and paste it on to a page that has not yet been created (like "Wiktionary:Neno la siku/Jalada/2020/Desemba").
- After you have pasted information which you copied, edit the page so that it is suitable for the new month. For example, change "Novemba" to "Desemba", and since November only has 30 days, add an extra line for 31 December. Then save the new page.
- You will see that the archive page has links for each day in the month. If no Word of the Day has been created for a certain day, you will see a red link (for example, "Wiktionary:Neno la siku/2020/Novemba 1"). To create a new Word of the Day entry, click on the red link, add a Kigezo:NLS template to the page, fill in the information, and save the page.
- After you have set an entry as a Word of the Day, add "Kigezo:ilikuwa NLS" to the entry page. (See kamusi for an example.) This will indicate to other editors that that entry has already appeared as a Word of the Day, and will add the entry page to "Jamii:NLS jalada".
- I noticed that the Words of the Day for 2 and 3 November are entries that have not been created yet (the links are red). Shouldn't you feature entries that have already been created? — SGconlaw (majadiliano) 14:32, 3 Novemba 2020 (UTC)
Yeah I am also writing new words so I tend to just write sorry for replying faster. AK alvin kipchumba (User talk:Alvin kipchumba) 18:59, 4 Novemba 2020 (UTC)
I will try and read everything for at leat ten times until I understand 😂 AK alvin kipchumba (User talk:Alvin kipchumba) 19:00, 4 Novemba 2020 (UTC)
- Alvin: OK, no problem! — SGconlaw (majadiliano) 19:09, 4 Novemba 2020 (UTC)
I think I will create for the next three years until there will be sufficient editors that can be able for now very few editors (actually just one or two) there is literally no help thanks alot. AK alvin kipchumba (User talk:Alvin kipchumba) 19:12, 4 Novemba 2020 (UTC)
- Alvin: wow. Don't forget that you can also just set one word a week (for example, every Sunday) if one every day is too many. — SGconlaw (majadiliano) 19:15, 4 Novemba 2020 (UTC)
Yeah, also not many people will see if it if I put a word everyday, but also remember it will only last a day so it is just the same AK alvin kipchumba (User talk:Alvin kipchumba) 19:20, 4 Novemba 2020 (UTC)
- Alvin: another possibility is that you set the same word for a whole week, for example, from Sunday to the next Saturday. — SGconlaw (majadiliano) 19:25, 4 Novemba 2020 (UTC)
Yeah until there is more participation as it is still growing there are many viewes but little editors . So how is it possible for that proposal AK alvin kipchumba (User talk:Alvin kipchumba) 19:30, 4 Novemba 2020 (UTC)
Yes it will also sound like a joke Neno la wiki (wiki is week in swahili) so wiki- wikipedia get it AK alvin kipchumba (User talk:Alvin kipchumba) 19:33, 4 Novemba 2020 (UTC)
- Alvin: ha, ha, what a coincidence. Anyway, how you do it is like this: for example, use the Kigezo:NLS template to set the Word of the Day for 8 November at "Wiktionary:Neno la siku/2020/Novemba 8". Then copy and paste the same template to "Wiktionary:Neno la siku/2020/Novemba 9" and change the date to 9 November, and do the same for the other days until 14 November. — SGconlaw (majadiliano) 19:37, 4 Novemba 2020 (UTC)
After you have set an entry as a Word of the Day, add "Kigezo:ilikuwa NLS" to the entry page. (See kamusi for an example.) This will indicate to other editors that that entry has already appeared as a Word of the Day, and will add the entry page to "Jamii:NLS jalada". I thought words automatically have that once they have already been on Word of the day AK alvin kipchumba (User talk:Alvin kipchumba) 19:37, 4 Novemba 2020 (UTC)
- Alvin: no, it's not automatic. You have to add "Kigezo:ilikuwa NLS" to the entry page at the position shown at kamusi. It is the template that categorizes the entry into "Jamii:NLS jalada". — SGconlaw (majadiliano) 19:43, 4 Novemba 2020 (UTC)
So you added the words there by yourself. AK alvin kipchumba (User talk:Alvin kipchumba) 19:48, 4 Novemba 2020 (UTC)
Anyways I will keep that in mind I wondered since it will no longer be word of the day how do we change the template name to word of the week (Neno la Wiki). AK alvin kipchumba (User talk:Alvin kipchumba) 19:57, 4 Novemba 2020 (UTC)
- Alvin: yes, I added "Kigezo:ilikuwa NLS" to the words manually. Well, "Neno la siku" could be changed to "Neno la wiki" in "Kigezo:NLS". However, it will be quite complicated to change the template so it automatically displays a word for a week. For now, it is easier to just set the same word for every day in a week if that's what you wish to do. — SGconlaw (majadiliano) 20:23, 4 Novemba 2020 (UTC)
Wow you just made Typing for three years much more better unfortunately I won't do that this week I will write everything next week so dont be worried if I don't the over 600000 users of wiktionary kamusi should applaude you for your work ( I don't know if you are a guy or girl) but cheers bro will they sue us for talking here in english instead of swahili AK alvin kipchumba (User talk:Alvin kipchumba) 03:28, 5 Novemba 2020 (UTC)
- Alvin: I'm happy to help. (I'm a man.) — SGconlaw (majadiliano) 22:26, 5 Novemba 2020 (UTC)

[hariri]Do you think that wikipedia actually gives out the prizes they mention in their competitions AK alvin kipchumba (User talk:Alvin kipchumba) 03:31, 5 Novemba 2020 (UTC)
- Alvin: I'm not sure what Wikipedia competitions you're referring to? — SGconlaw (majadiliano) 22:26, 5 Novemba 2020 (UTC)
Afrocine 2020 . I am a very poor writer in Wikipedia english If you look at my articles they are trash I seriously need teaching on how to edit and create an article could you give me some tips on my next article AK alvin kipchumba (User talk:Alvin kipchumba) 11:00, 15 Novemba 2020 (UTC)
- Alvin: hmmm, well, here are a few suggestions to start with:
- If you are going to spend a while on a certain article, don't edit it directly in the main space. Instead, work on it in your sandbox (w:en:User:Alvin kipchumba/sandbox) first, and only transfer it to the main space when you are satisfied with it.
- Make sure that what you write is referenced to reliable third-party sources. For example, you can refer to the websites of newspapers. You can also refer to printed books and magazines in a library.
- If you are learning English, try to write shorter, simpler sentences. — SGconlaw (majadiliano) 14:07, 15 Novemba 2020 (UTC)

But I have little to no support of editing . So I do it fast and simple after thst I mainspace it, moreso these days I don't have much time to edit like last time I took a lot of things for granted.thanks gor your support I will keep all yourtips in mind each time I have the time thanks for your support.
